As part of this commemorative year the Pieterskerk Leiden organized the <em>Pieterskerk Lectures<\/em>, in cooperation with Studium Generale. In the archives many special archival documents from the 900 year history of the Pieterskerk Leiden have been preserved. In her lecture Ariela Netiv tells about several unique archival documents about the Pieterskerk Leiden and their meaning for the history of the monument and the city.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Separation of the sexes in the Pieterskerk Leiden<\/strong> <br><strong>Ariadne Schmidt<\/strong> <br>Dr. Ariadne Schmidt is professor by special appointment for urban history, focused on Leiden especially, at Leiden University. She specialises in social history and women&#8217;s history. In her lecture she talks about the women in the history of the Pieterskerk Leiden and the unique story of the 17th-century Johanna de la Court from Leiden. She writes a weekly column in <em>Trouw<\/em> and regular articles for <em>Het Parool<\/em>. Using the rich still lifes by the Leiden painter Pieter de Ring (1615\/20-1660), who was interred in the Pieterskerk Leiden, Charlotte Kleyn talks about the historical gastronomical culture in the Netherlands of the 17th century.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Paintings of the church interior of the Pieterskerk Leiden in the museum collection<\/strong> <br><strong>Jori Zijlmans<\/strong> <br>Dr. Jori Zijlmans is curator for history at Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden. In her lecture she talks about church interior paintings of the Pieterskerk Leiden in the museum collection. This is in response to a recent purchase by Museum De Lakenhal of a 17th century church interior by Anthonie van Borssom, at an auction. Merlijn Hurx is professor at Leuven University and specializes in architectural history. In 2016 the publication of his dissertation was awarded the Karel van Manderprize, for the best publication about architectural history in the Netherlands between 2011-2015. In his lecture prof. dr. Hurx talks about the surprising history of the construction of the Pieterskerk Leiden, where innovative building methods played an important part.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>The many perspectives on 900 years of Pieterskerk Leiden<\/strong> <br><strong>Ward Hoskens<\/strong> <br>Ward Hoskens is curator of the Pieterskerk Leiden Foundation and is currently working on his PhD research concerning the Pieterskerk Leiden in modern history. To close the lecture series of <em>Pieterskerk Lectures<\/em> he considers the many perspectives on the history of the Pieterskerk Leiden.
